Biography

After graduating from the University of Brighton in 1992, Julia taught at a large East
Sussex junior school as ICT coordinator, mathematics coordinator and Assistant
Head of Year. During this time, she was invited to take a major role on a number of
county funded ICT and mathematically focused research projects and working
parties. In 2003, Julia attained an MA in Education Studies at the University of
Sussex researching mathematical problem solving at Key Stage 2, before completing
a PhD at the UEA on the social relationships involved in teachers’ engagement with
ICT. She has worked on a number of projects within The Research Centre, City
College Norwich, such as Employer Engagement in Foundation Degrees and Peer
Review in the 14-16 sector, whilst teaching within the primary school system and
tutoring for the Open University on the Foundation Degree in Early Years
programme.
