Abstract:

This project has been funded by the LSC to evaluate several of its funded projects involved in the use of innovative methods for NVQ assessment, including the development of a paper-free portfolio, a web-based portfolio and the use of digital recorders in NVQ assessment. It is already known that issues have arisen with the use of training and understanding the use of these techniques. The project was undertaken with the aim to evaluate the LSC funded projects and to identify lessons learnt and make suitable recommendations.
A variety of methods were used to collect information. The method adopted consisted of background research and interviews with key stakeholders at selected organisations. The methods of data collection included a mix of deskwork and interviews. Literature was reviewed for similar projects and project reports supplied by some of the selected organisations were studied. Semi-structured, face to face interviews, with project managers were used to collect data.
