Progression into vocational HE in Health and Social Care
This study, addressing health and social care progression to HE, was funded by MOVE and Aimhigher Norfolk. The project identified students, who had not progressed from level 3 to level 4 courses, in order to offer them further guidance. This process was not straightforward; it was a key finding of the project that current data management practices in post-16 education made it difficult to adequately trace learner outcomes. However, a number of learners who were contacted were keen to make use of the guidance offered. Project aims also focussed on the type of qualifications held by learners on level 4 courses at local institutions. However, the ways in which data are recorded by government-funded agencies (UCAS, HEFCE, HESA) for statistical purposes do not currently facilitate the identification of exact qualifications used by students to progress from FE to HE.
