The Social Knowledge Industries are a term used to describe organisations that collect and provide access to information products (libraries, museums, etc.), organisations that interpret information to secure the cultural and economic objectives of a geographic location (i.e. education providers, public research organisations etc.). 
This project aimed to describe the characteristics of the European market for the Social Knowledge Industries, and to identify the issues that projects developing telematic systems and services for this market need to take into account.  This includes researching the cultural objectives of member states and any other issues or factors which need to be taken into account.
