The report is an academic review of subjects in UK higher education. 
The report covers provision in FECs which is directly funded by HEFCE or through HEFCE consortium funding.  The report provides a summary of the findings of 513 academic reviews carried out between January 2002 and June 2003.  ‘The chief purposes are to highlight elements of good practice identified by the reviewers, to assist current and potential providers in further developing and enhancing their provision and to disseminate good practice to subjects yet to be reviewed.  The report will also assist professional, statutory and regulatory bodies (PSRBs) and those undertaking scholarly work in the field’.
