The primary objective of this Higher Education Academy funded project was to search, collate and submit into a repository, literature that focussed on HE in FE research and activities. A range of literature was collected, with grey literature (60%) accounting for the majority and most having multiple foci. HE in FE was considered a niche subject, with very limited research conducted. Many FEC staff do not have the time to devote to scholarly activities or research, thus any research tends to be by HEI researchers. Reviewing materials identified a number of issues in urgent need of future research, such as student recruitment and retention, student experience and expectations, student support and funding issues and their impacts
