The project aimed to conduct an evaluation of the experience of work based learning and employer engagement in Foundation Degree (FD) programmes within the Eastern region.

In the initial phase of the investigation 157 Foundation Degrees programme specifications were collected from institutions in the Eastern region. The documentation was audited and reviewed providing an overview of existing institutional employer engagement strategies held by Foundation Degree providers. Levels quantity and type of work based learning were assessed and the relationship between the work based learning and the programme rationale was analysed.

A questionnaire aimed to obtain a deeper understanding with regard to the findings of the programme specification evaluation and to ascertain the level of employer engagement in each programme; in design delivery development and assessment. In total 132 questionnaires were sent to Foundation Degree personnel 62 questionnaires were returned a response rate of 47%.
