EL-CID demonstrates computer programs’ iterative development by translating XML descriptions of iterative editing into an animated demonstration. The visualisation allows multiple ways to use the example files. The software and examples have been tested with HE students and the records of usage show that they appreciate the system and adapt it easily to their own needs.
